Orc

"Waaaagh!"

Orcs are more physically powerful than the other races, but they're no more virtuous than anyone else, which makes a lot of people preemptively nervous about having orcs around. Orcish tradition has a lot of strictures about asceticism and honor and personal trials and such, but most of that is just so the orcs can point to it and make claims. They're no more likely to actually do any of that than anyone else is. In truth, the orcs usually know that they're stronger, but there's a fine line to be walked between getting a better deal and getting someone wanting to stab you as soon as you look away. Smart orcs know when to avoid pushing their luck.

Orcs are about 5.5 to 6.5 feet tall, very muscular, and with green skin. In somewhat of a reverse from the other races, the more sunlight that an orc is exposed to on a regular basis, the paler their skin becomes. Orcs are adults at 15 and they live until around 80. An orc must be at least 35 years old to be elected president of the Waagh.

Game Mechanics

  • Speed: 30ft, but add +10ft to their base speed when calculating maximum charge distance (so, charge range of 80ft if there are no other modifiers in effect).
  • Vision: Darkvision 60ft, Orcs can see in absolute darkness out to 60ft, but only in black and white.
  • All-weather Stomach: Orcs are immune to ingested poisons and diseases. Orcs eat and drink only half as much as other humanoids, and they take only half normal damage (rounded down) from starvation and thirst.
  • Scent: Orcs can automatically detect the presence of creatures within 30ft even without being able to see them. Double or half this distance if winds are favorable or unfavorable.
  • Massive Pecs: An Orc can carry 50% more than normal for their strength. Whenever an orc would add a stat to the damage of a single target effect (such as a weapon attack, or a single target spell), they can add half their Strength bonus as well (round down, minimum of +1).
